It’s a rotten daisy chain of bleak sketches targeting the ongoing atmosphere of violence, corruption and disinformation in Ukraine that ends up almost back where it starts, with one gruesome twist. As cinematically impressive as all of Loznitsa’s work, I initially wasn’t as impressed with the film as I was with A Gentle Creature, or My Joy, but it’s had a much more vivid half-life in my memory than I expected for such an episodic work. It really packs a cumulative wallop.

Re: Montage Pictures: Donbass
Bought this on blu ray and it won’t play on my multi-region player. Instead I get a message imploring me to buy a multi region player. All my other region b discs still work on this player so I am wondering if this is an issue anyone else has had?

I have one player set to A and another player set to B but sometimes one of them will flicker over to the other region for some unknown reason. Try a couple of other Region B locked discs and see if they work (if you haven't already). You may have to reset you player to Region B.

Sounds like a very similar issue to this. Maybe following this trick can solve it: http://www.criterionforum.org/forum/vie ... 33#p679433
