Sangue bleu (Nino Oxilia, 1914) available on DVD by Cineteca di Bologna. Hopefully it has English subtitles.

From the same director Rapsodia Satanica (1917) sounds fascinating. Would love to see this on DVD, unless there already is one.

Our invaluable Adriano Aprà has compiled a list of 106 essential Italian directors, selecting a film for each one. Must read.

La ciociara Blu-ray incoming.

I still remember the delight when I found the OOP Italian DVD in mint condition in a small newsagent stand in Milan. I had wanted to see this for ages, so I saved it a little while until it became my nominal 1000th film that I ever watched.

Does anyone has any info on a possible BD of Comencini's Incompreso and/or Voltati Eugenio? How are the current DVDs?

P.s. I just got the Italian dvds of Anni felici, La mafia uccide solo d'estate and Il capitale Umano. They all have (at least) English and Italian subs...
P.p.s La mafia uccide solo d'estate is surprisingly very good!

It's either an Italian DVD or an Italian sub. That narrows it down a little anyway.

By the way I guess the title of this topic could be changed to just "Italian DVD/Blu Rays"

Can we just merge the Italian DVD thread with the food thread?

We could as well merge Olive films' thread to that for an even more Mediterranean touch...

It could do with being merged with this thread that is also on the same topic: Classic Italian Cinema (non R1, English-friendly). We don't need multiple threads for general chit-chat on a particular country's release.

We have just started an English version of our Adriano Aprà blog.
The first entry discusses one of Giuseppe De Santis' best films, Under the Olive Tree: http://www.adrianoapra.it/?p=726" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
