I watched a Raul Ruiz the night before he died, and then even more unlikely, Three Days the night before Yekaterina Golubeva died.

Do you want to come round and watch Home Alone 2 with me?

The NYT obit said he had 8 kids! It said that N.Y., N.Y. (Francis Thompson) influenced him greatly.

Daybreak Express (so great that Criterion had to include it as an extra on both The Horse's Mouth and Dont Look Back) certainly shows that influence

I can absolutely see that. I don’t know if I had seen Thompson’s film by the time I first saw Daybreak Express at a jazz festival many years ago.

Composer Barrington Pheloung at 65. Most famous for the theme tune to Inspector Morse, though he also composed for a number of UK film directors: Paul W.S. Anderson's first film Shopping, Anthony Mingella's Truly Madly Deeply and a number of films directed by Anand Tucker: Hilary and Jackie, Shopgirl, and And When Did You Last See Your Father?

Plus also a few other items of interest: composing the score for the Roger Christian film Nostradamus, which is probably Christian's biggest scaled film though just as goofy as Battlefield: Earth! As well as the score for Tobe Hooper's adaptation of Stephen King's The Mangler! And in 1992 Twin Dragons, the Jackie Chan film!

Plus the first couple of games in the Broken Sword series of point-and-click adventure games from the late 90s.

No English-language links yet but French New Wave director Jean-Pierre Mocky has died. According to IMDB, his now last film Tous flics! is in post-production, so he really kept working right til the end

Late entry - Genevieve Waite, star of Joanna (1968) and with a cameo role in Myra Breckinridge, on 18 May, aged 71. There are obituaries online, but we seem to have missed her passing here.

Richard Williams.
...he was advised to learn how to draw properly and admitted he “lost all interest in animation” until he was 23 – throwing himself into art.

He said he was drawn back to the craft because his “paintings were trying to move”.
It’s difficult for me to imagine a more definitive/must own book for an animator than his own Animator's Survival Kit.

I suspect he was fully aware that his age would mean that he wouldn't be faced with the consequences of his actions. See also Trump: he'll be long dead by the time the planet catches fire, so why should he care?
