I think Lynne Ramsay has more unrealized projects than completed ones, so I’m happy to see she has a new one finished and another (the one with Phoenix) that has wrapped shooting.

Congrats to everyone who had "Tony Leung will team up with Enyedi Ildikó" on their 2023 bingo cards.

It's now been given an intriguing, ominous synopsis: "Photographer who meets the devil in Alaska"yoloswegmaster wrote: ↑Sat Aug 19, 2023 9:49 amLynne Ramsay confirms that this has finished filming and is from an original screenplay.therewillbeblus wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 2:59 pmJoaquin Phoenix will reteam with wife Rooney Mara and Lynne Ramsay for her next film, Polaris

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
Huh, I'd think that would be referring to his upcoming project AND, which stars Stone and was shot by Robbie Ryan, which we've known about for some time now - but that was shot in New Orleans last year (and we've got footage of Stone dancing from December to prove it!) In a recent interview, Lanthimos said that he and Stone had made "four movies together," so maybe he isn't counting the short film Bleat (which was shot in Greece) and happened to find the time to make three films with Stone and two with Ryan back to back?

I believe this film is Snyder's proposed Star Wars project with all the Star Wars parts taken out after Disney canceled it

Napoleon is also getting a 70mm engagement at the newly-reopened Vista in Los Angeles, which Quentin Tarantino purchased 3 years agoyoloswegmaster wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 2:41 pmThis will be having a limited 70mm run from Dec. 15-21 in LA, NYC, Toronto, and London.

I don't understand how burning down your house for an insurance payout is insurance fraud, but doing this isn't tax fraud

The article doesn’t note that WB is still on track to release another Looney Tunes feature next year, The Day the Earth Blew Upyoloswegmaster wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 6:05 pmWarner has shelved Coyote Vs. Acme, which was already completed

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
I find this similar to strip mall/close mall owners that benefit from having tax write-offs from not having tenants fill in empty spots. These companies wrote these tax loopholes through lobbying and the only ones that benefit is themselves. Never in my life have I a seen a company shut down completed movies without any of them seeing the light of day. This is their 3rd or 4th film this year so far.
Coyote vs Acme and the Scoob sequel seem to have good receptions with the few people that saw it, so it's mind numbing that they will not be seen.

It has happened on very rare occasions. Paramount did it with a film they test screened called Young Lust around 1984, and 20th Century Fox did with Hung Up (1973), a French film that I believe didn’t even open in its native country. Lorimar did with Broken English in 1981

Christopher Nolan praises Zaslav in the Variety interview that just came out. I found that incredibly disappointing.

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
Why wouldn't he? WB have supported all his projects in the last two-plus decades, and given him a fair amount of creative control in areas that would be restricted for other, less bankable filmmakers. They even stood by him amidst the whole COVID Tenet release he pushed relentless for against all risk management variables. If there's one auteur who'd be unconditionally grateful for WB right now, Nolan would be the guy

I think what Nolan really likes is Zasalv's commitment to theatrical releases.

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
That’s understandable but his “worst streamer ever” comment now reads weird now because it’s arguably gotten worse and unarguably more expensive too.

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
I think the WB people Nolan had the biggest beef with (i.e. those who pushed for day-and-date streaming releases during COVID and shortened the theatrical window for Tenet) were all replaced by Zaslav.

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
I would have guessed there remained some skepticism on his part about the new regime, but I probably should at least give Zaslav the benefit of the doubt as far as reaching out and doing press with Spielberg, Scorsese and PTA. I’m just not a fan of literally anything else he’s done so far but I’ll concede the long game out of this could mean a new age in the industry.

Re: New Films in Production, v.2
I actually knew a guy who worked on this when I went for a brief stint in an acting school in New Mexico. Forgot his name and he probably just played a minor role behind the scenes but knowing what a sweet/earnest guy he was and how passionate he when he talked about it, it aches my heart to imagine 1000s of others like him that worked effortlessly on it realize it would never be. Fuck Warner.yoloswegmaster wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 6:05 pmWarner has shelved Coyote Vs. Acme, which was already completed

Had forgotten about Broken English, which had Oona O'neill and it's her only film credit.beamish14 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 7:26 pmIt has happened on very rare occasions. Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of the controversial tech mogul, which was published in September, will serve as the basis for the screenplay.
