Though they've been much better served on home video in the UK than Mohsen Makhmalbaf himself, and considering he's one of the most important figures in contemporary cinema, it's a massive gap.knives wrote:Or one of his daughters.

It's coming to the US too but it hasn't been revealed who yet. Maybe Sony themselves. Scream Factory says it's definitely not them.dwk wrote:Bernard Rose said that Arrow is releasing Candyman in the UK in October.

Apparently Lisa Petrucci posted on the The Something Weird Video Fan Club on Facebook that Arrow is going to give the HG Lewis treatment to Doris Wishman and William Grefé.

wow. Big news, as for me Candyman has aged well, is clearly the finest adaptation of Barker - and is looking like one of the ‘90s best horror films. Also the old Blu ray I saw looked like an upscale DVD.dwk wrote: ↑Wed May 16, 2018 10:32 pmBernard Rose said that Arrow is releasing Candyman in the UK in October.
Hope Arrow will explore more Rose because he has made several fascinating films, in particular the SOV films based upon Tolstoy.

If they could somehow land his PAPER HOUSE, I'd be eternally grateful.

swo17 I think you misread what I was responding to. Bernard Rose said Candyman is coming in October. The Alan Sugar tease is for an August release being announced tomorrow. So I didn't think the clue could be related to Candyman

Got it, sorry for the confusion. I know some people operate under the assumption that at least Criterion saves its horror releases for October, though that isn't true either.

Regardless of when, Candyman is big news. It’s never had a competent HD release. It’s up there on my “Grail” list along with Basic Instinct, The Fly & more, in need of a serious upgrade using the best encoding and current technology.
I would love Arrow to also release IvansXtc but would hope for a new remaster. In fact I want to see Boxing Day, Kreutzer Sonata and 2 Jacks. Maybe even a set of Rose/Tolstoy shot on video films.

Arrow is releasing Terence Davies' Distant Voices, Still Lives in the US
We're going to be releasing Terence Davies' Distant Voices, Still Lives on Blu-ray, which will be a new 4K restoration. Our technical team are reviewing the materials and have already had some scans done on what we hold. Arrow are doing it in the US so we're cost-sharing with them, so we can do a new restoration and we can both save money on it. It is set for release in October both here and in America.

In the same interview, the mention of a Denis Potter retro is mentioned. That would be a dream release if it ever came true.dwk wrote:Arrow is releasing Terence Davies' Distant Voices, Still Lives in the USWe're going to be releasing Terence Davies' Distant Voices, Still Lives on Blu-ray, which will be a new 4K restoration. Apprentice to Murder sounds fascinating and right up my recent alley of folk-horror; has anyone here seen or heard much about it?
