Because they can, they only pricematch HMV.

Re: Arrow: Cheapest Prices/Best Places to Buy/Pre-Orders/Deals
It seems that for the past year or two they consistently price titles before release @ 14.99, then after release date they raise them to closer to 20 (for regular releases), same for indicator titles.

Yep, Blu-rays online are a lot more expensive nowadays in the UK, now that Amazon has killed off most of its competition. Amazon UK offers very little value for Blu-rays, and you're dependent upon Base, HMV or the individual labels to offer sales, with Fopp being the best of all, but in-store only.
I have Prime and order very few films from Amazon UK.

Re: Arrow: Cheapest Prices/Best Places to Buy/Pre-Orders/Deals
Problem is, Fopp is a subsidiary of HMV, and isn’t currently receiving any new stock. Base, Zavvi and Zoom are very patchy in what they stock. If you want a 2019 release, either order direct from the producer or let Amazon have you by the balls.

It's all relative though; shipping to Canada, the prices I pay for new releases from Arrow, Indicator, MoC, etc., even at Amazon.co.uk, are still cheaper than what it costs me to get new Criterion, Shout Factory, or Twilight Time releases. Kino Studio Classics are a little cheaper (usually), but they come out to about the same as those UK releases.

Ever since I've been buying films, so since 2009, online prices in Europe i.e. the UK, Germany and Italy, are much cheaper the US, so that doesn't surprise me. People get excited by Criterion selling their releases for $20, when that's an Indicator-only level price in the UK. Everything else can be had for cheaper.willoneill wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 9:02 amIt's all relative though; shipping to Canada, the prices I pay for new releases from Arrow, Indicator, MoC, etc., even at Amazon.co.uk, are still cheaper than what it costs me to get new Criterion, Shout Factory, or Twilight Time releases. There's a lot of stuff in the States that's far cheaper than in the UK, of course, too. Fast food and branded clothes spring to mind.

In 40 years, on my death bed, I will be able to tell the story to my great nephews and nieces of how I came to purchase Nekromantik 1 and 2.

"So, which movies do you want to watch for Valentine's Day ? Nekromantik ? Island of Death ? Caligula ? All Ladies Do It ? Bride of Re-Animator ?"
* and that was the last Valentine's Day he celebrated with his GF *
Joke aside, I'm fascinated by the seemingly high amount of people who over-read into that and thought Arrow would be announcing a My Bloody Valentine release.

Apparently shipping to USA has increased 233% since last summer? Perhaps this was mentioned in posts about subsequent sales but I haven’t ordered direct since July.

I just paid £2.25 shipping for two titles to the US? Tracked was £10 and change, but basic shipping was £2.25.

Re: Arrow: Cheapest Prices/Best Places to Buy/Pre-Orders/Deals
It was previously posted in this thread that a best value for shipping from the new(-ish) Arrow webstore was 4 single titles. In July I paid 2.25 GBP in shipping for a 4 title order. When I placed 4 titles in my cart today shipping was priced 7.50 GBP for 3-5 titles.senseabove wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 5:26 pmI just paid £2.25 shipping for two titles to the US? After limiting my order to two titles, I was charged 2.25 GBP. So apparently two separate orders of two titles is presently a better value than one order of four titles for shipments to USA. Fortunately I really wanted only one title included in this sale. Thanks for the info.

There's an Easter sale happening right now. The website is running poorly though.

I thought the sale was for "members" only?

Running poorly is quite a nice way to phrase it.
However, it might generate an additionnal load on the website since the reduced prices are only shown to those logged in, meaning it requires to check who's logged in and who isn't.
Being a member only requirement is creating an account there, so it most certainly doesn't filter out many people.

No, they're rather finally doing what they announced when they launched their new website !hearthesilence wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 11:19 amAh, never mind, I thought they had started some sort of membership subscription I wasn't aware of!

I had two Blu-Rays and a Dual Format release in my cart and the shipping was 7.50 GBP. I dropped one Blu-Ray, and the shipping went down to 2.25 GBP. It may be cheaper to split orders in two if you're overseas.

Actually, the sale prices are suddenly not showing up for me--everything in my cart just jumped back up to £18

Shows up for me. Try logging in first.
And while I'm at it - is it worth paying more for Shout Factory's Matinee? How good are those new bonuses like the 5.1 mix and the new interviews?
