Screen Captures (5-6 per post + links to additional images)
Link your screen captures here to show off the quality (or lack thereof) of certain international DVDs that are, preferably, not shown on other websites. For organization purposes I'd appreciate it if each post only contained images from one particular DVD, unless it's a comparison.
Unfortunately due to bandwidth limitations users will be unable to post images directly onto this site. I suggest using an image hosting site (such as Photo Bucket or Image Shack) and then linking to those images from here.
I'd also appreciate it if the number of images per post were kept down to a reasonable amount, so that the thread doesn't take too too long to load and become too horrendous to look at. If images become dead (the red X) I may delete the images or delete the post, so you have fair warning.

Three samples from the attractive new R2 PAL UK anamorphic edition of The Valachi Papers. Note that this is the Studio Canal edition, not the other recent UK release by Orbit Media, which has had very poor reviews on Amazon and IMDb.

Not sure if this 16:9 aspect ratio is correct, though. The reviews of the Sony R1 disc mention 1.85:1.
(Note to admin: feel free to delete if I've done this wrong!)

Here are four sets of screen captures (between the Panorama R3 HK and Shochiku R2 Japan) that show how washed out,
cropped, stretched, green tinted and painful the brilliant Shinoda Masahiro film (adapted from Kawabata)
With Beauty and Sorrow can be. Unfortunately, the only one of these with english subtitles is the Panorama,
but hopefully that will one day change, as this is one of my favorite Shinoda films, and deserves
better treatment and a larger audience (who couldn't be blamed for disliking the Panorama).
I'm posting these because I would hate for anyone, like me, to have been violently turned away from the film
while watching the Panorama because it's a completely different animal in it's correct state.
They're both NTSC and have the same running time, however the anamorphic Shochiku is dual layered
and averages about 8.0 MBps while the Panorama is single layered averaging about 5.7 MBps.
With this collection of captures I'll place the Shochiku first and the Panorama second. These captures
were taken on PowerDVD (the files are on a geocities account, and there may be limits on viewing, if this
becomes a problem I'll move them to another site).

Attempting to transfer previously posted caps here;
The French Universal Under Capricorn:
Fixed (but rippable) French subs;
Excellent progressive stable image far FAR superior to the old Image disc. This transfer is reportedly available on other Euro Universals.

Bellissima Italian R2, Medusa:
Absolutely one of the most beautiful B&W transfers I own. Optional white English and Spanish subs and copious extras including IVs with Suso Cecchi d'Amico, Zefirelli and Piero Tosi. Extras not subbed.

El Angel Exterminador R4 (AV Channel):
A port of the UK disc. I agree with Gary Tooze, a disappointingly soft image with some brighness enhancement, and a couple of inserted second gen-ny shots. Not bad, but the movie needs the Criterion treatment.
Adrian Martin Commentary track and Booklet essay.
