*waves* October 13th is when I ordered, actually. But I still got lucky on this one, it seems. Someone over at The Other Forums said they pre-ordered day 1, before any price drops, and still had their order cancelled. Part of me's feeling skeptical until it's in my hands, though...

The title is already taken off MVD's web site.

Add Metropolitan to your list. I rewatch it this time every year and never fail to love it.

Add me to the list of people who had their order cancelled. Someone on a post earlier suggested waiting it out for a release without the book, is that going to be a thing?

Edit: Another question, isn't this a region a release too? I guess that rules out somebody else putting it out without the immediate oop barrier?

Yes, all these limited editions eventually get replaced with more stripped down versions. I wouldn't be surprised if they announce it next month.

All signs point to it selling out in America. There’s a seperate run of 3,000 sets for the UK that are almost identical (except ratings logo on the packaging) that has thus far shown no signs of being near selling out.

I placed a Amazon.co.uk order this morning and it just shipped out now.

It's released simultaneously in the US and UK, so it's a dual-region release, encoded for at least Regions A and B, according to a poster elsewhere who tested their copy.

I ordered from Amazon US on October 1, and mine was delivered today. So Amazon US had some copies at one point. (I'm not trying to suggest my order date had anything to do with why I received one.) My sympathies to all those who had orders cancelled.

Screw it, I just ordered the UK version.

On the US side of things, apparently even Diabolik DVD is cancelling orders.

Time to stop blaming retailers and start blaming the label...

I do actually blame Amazon - they've made a habit now of overselling these Arrow LEs at a lower price than almost everyone else and that likely creates a supply shortage as they get stock reallocated to them instead of to everyone in more equal amounts.

Though it'd help if Arrow would actually launch their own US store as they've been promising for several years.

I blame Arrow for releasing the American Horror Project box. Just, like, in general for anything

The only way this is Arrow's fault is if they originally told all the retailers they would have an allocation of x and then just at the last minute reduced that amount. If Amazon had known and notified people about this even just a couple weeks ago that could have made a big difference.

Amazon was like someone half heartedly blowing off their date on this. "Oh sure, I definitely want to still deliver this movie to you. Let's say Friday? (...) Oh, hey, I'm sorry, you know what, something came up again. But you're really great, best of luck out there!"

I think Amazon price-matched Walmart, so we can also blame Walmart which also cancelled many orders...

I blame distributor, MVD.

I got an email yesterday too that notified me of the cancellation. I sent a message on FB to Arrow Academy and received this -
All available stock was sent to Amazon via our US distributor; please contact Amazon as they should be able to give you an update as we don't have control/visibility over their customer orders
. I am not sure what to make of it. The issue is that I can't even contact amazon anymore as the cancelled orders usually vanish from the history. This is so frustrating.

Yeah, they completely deleted the product listing, so you can't even look up your old order information or, say, buy from a third party. Meanwhile, it looks like these are going for $100 or more on eBay. My apologies for commenting earlier in the thread that this wasn't likely to sell out.

I wonder if the UK release is at a similar risk of selling out. Would love to wait and see if this DeepDiscount order gets fulfilled, but... starting to get a bit nervous about those resale prices.

I would count on the DeepDiscount order not being fulfilled.

amazon.ca has a release date of January 9th for this. I asked via chat if they could confirm that copies have been allocated but the person I was talking to didn't seem to understand, or wasn't able to provide this information. Not holding my breath, but hopefully a few make it out in Canada.

There's a seller on eBay that's been listing batches of the U.S. release for $41 shipped. I missed out by a few seconds when I first noticed it, but then slipped in an order with the next batch. Might be worth camping out there to try to nab a copy.
