I voted for Master as it's the only one I haven't seen, and it would finally give me impetus, but any of these are probably worth discussing

Freshman -- because it is the only film that features the adorable Jobyna Ralston. ;-)

In honour of the current Biopic list project, please vote for one of five randomly-chosen biopics from the collection for discussion.

It was a tie between Young Mr. Lincoln and Breaker Morant, so I removed my vote from the former, leaving us with our winner:Breaker Morant!

It's a Member of the Year vote!

Our current Member of the Year, Matrixschmatrix, has kindly agreed to curate a round (and on very unfair short notice, too. Thanks, matrix!).

This is admittedly a haphazard selection, but they're basically all movies I found myself liking far more than I expected and which I think would bear a fair amount of discussion in one aspect or another

I voted for Marienbad because conceivably it's still a film about which people usually have something to say

Robinson Crusoe on Mars is the only one I haven't seen, so I voted for it. If it wins, I promise to watch it and make at least one substantial post about it, if for some reason that encourages anyone else to vote for it.

I wrote about Marienbad recently in the PTA (or was it Phantom Thread?) thread, so I don't know if there's much more I want to say about it.

This poll was basically decided in the first hour it was up. McCabe and Mrs. Miller it is!

Exercise the Democratic rights your rulers have granted you!

Here, again, are five random champions set to compete for your pleasure. The winner will be showered with garlands and have statues erected in its honour. The losers shall be carried lifeless from the arena on beds made of their own broken weaponry. On whom will the fickle citizenry satisfy its bloodlust this half-month?

You’d think eclipse would come up more often in these random selections given that they’re 25-30% of the collection...

I believe there's actually like 180 Eclipse films in the pool along with 900-950 mainline titles, so it's more like 16% Eclipse. But we've been doing so many themed or curated rounds lately where they haven't had as much of a shot.

I guess my estimation was too high, which makes sense now that you say it.

Comparisons are dubious and ultimately pointless but Ugetsu may be, imo of course, a perfect film. Hard to pick with that level of artistry. So King of the Hill for me.

What say I do the next round, eclipse-only?

I think an eclipse-only round is a good idea. I'll see if we can do that next.

Morbii has been kind enough to select 5 films from the Eclipse line to be voted on. Vote away!

The 1920's project is a couple months from completion, so here're five random 20's films from the collection to help your viewing along.

I like Safety Last as much as much as the next guy, but is there really that much to discuss there?

In my case, it’s the only title of these that I own and haven’t seen yet, which is often how I pick these.
