Ouch, that hurts. For those who are interested, it also comes with some newly discovered deleted scenes where Charlie Brown and Snoopy spend their pre-Thanksgiving night camping out in front of Best Buy for Black Friday TV sales.

Re: Peanuts TV Specials
Is it my imagination? Or are Peanuts shows the most expensive DVDs/Blus in the American market?

Re: Peanuts TV Specials
Cannot believe the very hostile reaction of rip-off that people are hurtling towards this over at Blu-ray's forums, and the tepid reaction here. Isn't it *good* to get more things on the new format? Yeah, it's a bit expensive but the school of thought that older stuff that doesn't have explosions or aliens shouldn't come to UHD seems very misguided.
The more ridiculous thing is releasing each of them on individual UHDs as well, for $30 MSRP.

Honestly I just wish it wasn't the same four specials over and over again.

My take (FWIW), is that the beauty of the Peanuts simple lines and minimalist aesthetic is that it serves to focus on the primary characters and their themes, where the Ultra High Definition upgrade just doesn't add justifiable value for the cost. My $$ will find much better use, but I find the image of Snoopy4k to be amusing, not angering.

I still love the best of these Peanuts films -- but they have always cost more than I was willing to pay.

Why would I support UHD?

I didn't ask you to support it, but don't see why anyone should be opposed to a greater variety of titles becoming available

Re: Peanuts TV Specials
Am I crazy in thinking that's I'd much rather watch a VHS of these on my tube TV than a 4k master? My eyes can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4k as it is, but watching forty year-old made for TV cartoon specials with pencil lines and scraggly characters is all very silly and feels like it's compromising the original material in some weird way.

The Thanksgiving and Christmas specials to air on PBS, in a deal struck with Apple, who now owns them. Hopefully this can be in perpetuity, since PBS is the perfect option over the networks, and that many boomers who grew up with them don't have Apple TV.

They'll probably be able to air complete without edits for more commercials for the first time in a while, at least
