Well, I suppose it's a period piece in more ways than one...

It's so generic, I had to check which Predator movie it was exactly.

In western symbolism. Might mean something different in Japan.

They're used for religious figures like Buddha and have been for a very long time. I've no doubt this is a mistake though but to a Western audience this is a big oops. Not that I imagine many people in Japan are going to actively seek out a film about white supremacists though.

Was there even a sheep IN Four Weddings And A Funeral?

That was just what I was trying to recall. I've seen the film a few times and cannot remember anything around sheep at all.

I thought I was the only one who was missing the reference, where instead I was reminded of Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Sex...

The coffin/cake thing also seems distasteful, as I remember the movie being more of a bittersweet tearjerker than a Weekend at Bernies gross-out romp.

This might qualify as one of the worst yet for it's sheer befuddlement factor in the face of a popular film with famous and attractive actors. And even that photoshop job to get to this result is tragic.

It's a reference to Andie MacDowell being a BAAd actress

Hugh Grant makes a best man's speech which obliquely references an incident with a sheep, although I can't imagine anyone remembers that as the defining moment of the film- (delivered in the most wooden way possible) "was there a sheep in it? I hadn't noticed".

What surprises me most is that one could indeed try and work out a Photoshop montage to use the cast to over-sell the movie, but instead, they do this.
I actually wonder if this is contractual, and that they weirdly can't put the cast on the cover somehow.

And yet the sheep was used, to a much smaller degree, in the original key art designs. I suspect that for this release they ran up against legal issues that prevented them from displaying Grand or McDowell. This is a frequent problem in studio licenses that Shout ran into recently on Texas Chainsaw Next Generation, but at least that film had leatherface to cary the design. They were clearly up against a wall here and in that term they have found a creative solution but I don’t think it’s the best one. The CRP Group who did this cover also did Dead Ringers and Serial Mom, releases focused on eschewing lead actors for strong designs. Unfortunately this one does fall a little short of the mark based on the nature of the film. I feel like the sheep is more of a hold over from the original one sheet more than a direct reference to Grant’s one line anyway.

That's a decent upgrade on the original cover, tasteful ass line or not
