“Make it sort of like the poster, but different enough that we can legally refuse to pay the poster designer any royalties”

If poster designers actually got royalties the world would be a much better place.

Prompted by the mention of I… Comme Icare on another thread, I offer for your enjoyment this old DVD cover. I particularly like the bloke in the background going “Doh!” at its hopelessness.

....Jesus Christ that's bad. The original poster is iconic, why not use that instead?

It goes against the brilliant subtlety of the film by blatantly showing satan (apparently trying to eat the baby?).

It seems like all of Paramount’s recent releases of their high-profile catalog titles have had terrible covers that do not represent the actual movie, but at least this one is awful in an interesting and amusing way.

Haha! Satan asked his plastic surgeon for a ski slope nose and got a snout, no wonder he’s so crabby

I assume that the white 'teeth' bits are also standing in for stretch marks too? But yes, this is visually painful to look at with all of those spikes everywhere.

[in Jeffrey Wells voice]And I'm not too sure what to make of giving the silhouette a prominent outie belly button yet no nipple definition.[/end Jeffrey Wells voice]

Push in the outie belly button and out pop the innie nipples. One assumes.

Yet another film with an iconic poster that the film company decided to not use. Instead we are again subjected to the the most ghastly shit imaginable. You'd think they'd be better at this.

The funny thing is that this is the cover for the U.S. release, while the U.K. release uses the iconic cover.

At least the standard American Graffiti UHD will have the classic theatrical poster...

Someone on br.com said an acquaintance at Paramount told them the Rosemary's Baby 4k will have the theatrical poster as reverse artwork. I don't know how reliable this is and if they've done this for other catalogue titles. But I'd honestly rather have only that new cover in exchange for a great transfer handled by their A team because i imagine a lot of people may be holding on to their Criterion BD anyhow for the extras like me and if the 4k looks great just get a 2 disc scanavo case to put the Criterion plus 4k in.

Someone must have confused this film for The Orphanage because the fonts look very similar.

Is this for the thumpingly unsubtle Jan de Bont remake?
