Has there been a delay on The King of Comedy? I thought it was suppose to get a release the end of October.

Yes. I suspect they're waiting on a release date of The Wolf of Wall Street to time it with.FrauBlucher wrote:Has there been a delay on The King of Comedy? I thought it was suppose to get a release the end of October.

There's a December release date attached to it on Amazon.ca, for whatever that's worth.

Hey, remember this, from January?
The results finally get released December 3, available exclusively from Foxconnect.com. Wheeee! Priced at $24.99 each, but it looks like they're currently available for pre-order at a non-unreasonable $15.99.captveg wrote:For those unaware, Fox has teamed up with the Home Theater Forum to poll for which titles to release next from the 1930s-60s. You can vote for one title from each decade, including write-ins. It also looks like you can vote again after 24 hours.

It's also getting released in France for 14.99€ each. However, I don't know if ALL 8 of them will be released, but I know Mrs Muir and North to Alaska at least will.

I have a feeling that it will be way too depressing to go back and find out which films were passed up in favour of these. North to Alaska is just excruciating, but I guess the John Wayne cultists couldn't care less.Matt wrote:Hey, remember this, from January? The results finally get released December 3, available exclusively from Foxconnect.com. I think Rock Hunter and Kiss of Death were two that didn't make it

Hopefully these sell relatively well, so Fox can dip in some more.

So the upshot of this program is that Fox listens to what its fanbase wants the most, prepares those titles for release on Blu-ray, and then excludes them from normal retail channels? I don't understand this business.

What on that list is actually any good? I'll probably pick up Carmen Jones and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, but I'm not too familiar with any of the rest.

I've long thought that Desk Set is fantastic. Easily my favorite of the Tracy-Hepburn comedies. I've watched it at least half a dozen times and never enjoy it any less.

Wasn't My Darling Clementine up for contention? Was that really passed over?

It was only a contender insofar as people voted for it in the write-in box.

Re: Fox Catalog Titles on Blu
I would think that this would get one of those special restorations. This is a special title for Fox. It's another one of those Ford and Fonda titles, like the Grapes of Wrath. I am also keeping my fingers crossed for another Fox Fonda title, The Ox Bow Incident.Drucker wrote:Wasn't My Darling Clementine up for contention? Was that really passed over?
I am waiting for TCM to start revealing their 2014 Film Festival line-up because I would expect these two to screen there. Especially if fully restored.

The FoxConnect exclusives really piss me off, as they won't ship outside the US. It's ridiculous. I finally found a place that would sell me one of the Kazan bluray sets, but it costs a fucking fortune.

Actually, according to the HTF thread, these will be available through other retailers, not just Fox Connect.

Where did you managed to get these? They are, in fact, available for pre-order at Amazon for $17.49 with a December 3 release date.J M Powell wrote:Actually, according to the HTF thread, these will be available through other retailers, not just Fox Connect.

A restoration of My Darling Clementine will be playing at the Film Forum (NY) in late January for week. Fox will most likely release the blu in the spring. I hope they release The Ox Bow Incident as well.

Finally! One of my favorite Fords. I envy those in the NY area, but will gladly settle for a good Blu release. I certainly hope that Fox either releases this themselves, or gives it to Criterion. I think I'd flip out if it gets stuck in the Twilight Time ghetto.FrauBlucher wrote:A restoration of My Darling Clementine will be playing at the Film Forum (NY) in late January for week.
