It's all right there on the first pages of this very thread. Here are some quotes from the press release announcing the service (emphasis mine):

"FilmStruck’s impressive library will feature a deep roster of films from such celebrated indie studios as Janus Films, Flicker Alley, Icarus, Kino, Milestone and Zeitgeist, along with movies from Hollywood’s major movie studios including Warner Bros."

"'TCM is leading Turner’s strategic move into the direct-to-consumer business with a truly differentiated and distinct streaming product that adds tremendous value to our portfolio,' said Coleman Breland, president of TCM and Turner Content Distribution. 'Together with our partners at the Criterion Collection, we are creating a must-have, premium film brand that will draw from the most celebrated movie libraries in the world.'"

Besides the additions to the Criterion channel already announced for today, Manila in the Claws of Light has been added.

Counter-counterpoint:
[T]his is my own fault for watching on a laptop. ... I don’t have a TV, and I’ve gotten used to being able to carry my screens from room to room.
Anyone watching movies like this is a philistine whose opinions are not worth listening to. (That said, I don't subscribe to Filmstruck either.)

OK, but why is he complaining that you can't view all titles when it's literally prominently displayed in the header of every single page of the website

Criterion acquired the Lenny Cooke doc? Fascinating subject that was poorly made (a good lesson in "don't stop paying attention to your subject!").

Anyone calling anyone a philistine whose opinion is not worth listening to is a crank whose opinions are not worth listening to. There is absolutely nothing wrong with watching a film on a laptop and being able to do so in your living room and in your bedroom with the same device. It's 2017. There are people who don't own televisions. Get used to it, it's going to keep getting weirder from here.

Bernard: Ivan is fine but he's not a serious guy, he's a philistine.
Frank: What's a philistine?
Bernard: It's a guy who watches films on his laptop. Your mother's brother Ned is also a philistine.
Frank: Then I'm a philistine.

I am not a crank. I may be a liar, a pig, an idiot, a communist, a crank ... but I am NOT a porn star.

I post these lists every month, but haven't subscribed in a long time because of how inconvenient I find the service to be. I've been waiting for it to arrive on PS4 before resubscribing, and that simply hasn't happened. Yes, I can hook my laptop up to my television screen, but the player's flash runs poorly on my laptop and, frankly, if I'm paying for a monthly service, it feels like I shouldn't have to deal with that. I have a lot of other things to watch, and in the back of my head I have knowledge of what I'll check out on Filmstruck in the future, but at the moment I just go, "Eh, I still have a dozen interesting-looking things in my Amazon Prime queue, and all I have to do is hit a button" instead of running a cord across my room and dealing with a crappy interface. A lot of these films are on Kanopy, too, which weirdly has a better organizational system, plus the advantage of being free. I'm glad they keep adding films that I'm interested in seeing, but it's not unreasonable to think that the service should have better tech by now.

Figure everyone saw it already but email went out yesterday correcting the October calendar—UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD will no longer be uploaded this month, new date TBA.

Could mean it's coming fairly soon, considering a lot of Janus releases don't get put up until a month or two after the physical release presumably so as not to deter sales.

I don't seem to get emails with calendars in them, just weekly "New This Week" ones.

The Leaving Filmstruck page got merged into the We're Refreshing Our Library page.

Also, may have been a fluke, but my Roku didn't crash the other day when I exited out of Filmstruck. Some progress finally? I think it still crashes if you stay in the app and don't do anything for a while.

A reminder that The Naked Spur expires Saturday if you don't want to miss (or miss a chance to revisit) one of the greatest westerns ever.

To me, that feels like a misread rather than a change in direction. If you read the article that that link comes from, they are pretty clear that it would feature films from Hollywood studios (like Mad Max, which was on the service) but be for showing "arthouse, indie, foreign and cult films", not for Hollywood classics.

I've had some playback problems very early on with spinning wheel playback freeze ups. Had to change browsers from IE (that never worked, and still doesn't) to Chrome. Then Chrome had problems with adobe flash, multiple trouble shooting with Filmstruck support helping, then I just went to Firefox, which works - running like a sewing machine now.

Never had a problem with content. I'm ready to renew in November. Have watched 473 feature films, and 75 shorts to date.

Anyone else getting "We're sorry, FilmStruck is only available in the United States at this time." from (all of) their web browsers? (Started early this morning.)

(Worked ok from Roku last night prior to that, and just checked it still works for now.)

Impressive. I watched only 263 films and 117 shorts (most of them the Chaplin collections) on FilmStruck. But I also watch on MUBI, Netflix, Prime, iTunes and have a decent blu-ray collection

I noticed that too. I provided feedback to FS because
a) the Latest Additions section should be sorted by date and not alphabetically. I don't want to go through the whole list to figure out what's new.
b) the previous Leaving FilmStruck list gave you roughly 2 months warning (the last time I visited it listed titles expiring Nov 10 [Romy Schneider])

If FilmStruck is reading this forum: please change that.
