Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol. 7
Haha! I personally love the cover: the imagery works great with the hand drawn type. It is a bit simple and straightforward but I think it nicely contrasts with what one is about to watch.aox wrote:Agreed.Brian C wrote:I feel like the Parajanov cover is kind of a spoiler - now I already know what color the pomegranates are.
Will not watch.

Actually I think this is the best Grant has ever looked on a Criterion cover. While I'm not crazy about that brown mustard background, I do think this is the most successful cover they've done for a classic Hollywood release in years (though still not on the sublime level of My Man Godfrey and Design for Living).

I know the packaging is more prone to damage and it takes up more shelf space but Night of the Living Dead looks great.

Not a big fan of the white bar in the inner DigiPack of Night of the Living Dead...

The fold-out Karen Cooper poster will look great in my room next to a few of the awesome ones I have of Robert Cummings.

I sense a joke here but I don’t get it. I started reading Cummings’ wiki but to no avail.Gregory wrote:The fold-out Karen Cooper poster will look great in my room next to a few of the awesome ones I have of Robert Cummings.

Ugh, a fold-out in a digipak? That’s disappointing. Has that been done before?

I haven't seen Graduation, so for all I know it's extremely appropriate for the movie. But it sure looks like they just took a random still and put words on it.

Re: Criterion & Eclipse Cover Art & Packaging Babble-on Vol.
With the time between phantom pages showing up and covers dropping, the habit of spoiler tagging titles in the thread for the former remains the most bizarre thing going on here month over month.
Pretend Graduation isn't there (I'm with Brian C: Is that going to sell like, 12 copies with a cover like that? It will pitch the film's appeal to absolutely no one who isn't already familiar with it, and it's a pity because it's very good) and this is a stellar month for covers. Midnight Cowboy is my favorite sort of left field thing that Criterion dazzles with. Just like Mishima was when that was originally announced!

Beyond the Hills is a surprise. I remember seeing it premiere at the NYFF - one of my favorites of that year but for a while it looked like it slipped off of everyone's radar.

The only way the Beyond the Hills and Graduation covers make sense is if they're part of a box-set.
Love the Midnight Cowboy and Mishima covers. Really eye grabbing.

Aside from the fact that they both use parts of stills, what else makes them remotely similar?KJones77 wrote:The only way the Beyond the Hills and Graduation covers make sense is if they're part of a box-set.

They have very similar color schemes, for one.mfunk9786 wrote:Aside from the fact that they both use parts of stills, what else makes them remotely similar?KJones77 wrote:The only way the Beyond the Hills and Graduation covers make sense is if they're part of a box-set.
How did these two make it out before 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days? Didn't the mock-up art for that leak months ago?

The Mungiu covers are actually part of a Psyop to drive members of this forum insane.
