All of the covers look like they spent 5 minutes on each.

I have to say I'm quite fond of those G.W. Pabst covers, even if those fonts are just inverted...
And I'd much rather have the full version of that I, Daniel Blake cover, something like one of the Korean editions...

I didn’t like I, DANIEL BLAKE at all but that’s a good cover.

Totally. Not quite swimminghorses, but someone sure didn't know how to fix the outlines...Luke M wrote:The Breakfast Club looks like one of those fake covers people would make of films they’d want to see in the Collection.

The Breakfast Club cover is pretty much the original poster
Which the TCM 2 poster parodied

Not to mention virtually all previous VHS/DVD/Blu editions. And, honestly, at this point, I can't see it being anything else, it's been so tattooed in my mind.dwk wrote:The Breakfast Club cover is pretty much the original poster

Just got my order in from the flash sale and there's a trend I'm noticing. With Rebecca, Barry Lyndon, and even Festival, not to mention the surprising blu-ray packaging on Vampyr after the downgrade of its DVD counterpart, is it safe to say booklets are starting to regain their place in the Criterion edition as opposed to these ubiquitous leaflets of the last few years?

Maybe with all the high-profile releases Criterion has been doing, they can afford them again now?

Maybe transportation costs are down again.

What is it with the inner art of the Criterion Lynch releases being better covers than the actual covers?

I don’t want to live on a planet where Criterion chooses one of the images from inside that Twin Peaks box over that cover, are you kidding me?

And Mulholland Drive! That one is particularly egregious; every single image in the packaging of that release would have made a better cover than the one it got

I meant I can’t inagine any other cover for Eraserhead besides the iconic poster they used.Mungo wrote:And Mulholland Drive! That one is particularly egregious; every single image in the packaging of that release would have made a better cover than the one it got

I guess I belong to the small, lonely club full of weird people who don't really care about covers.

It's not that small of a club... it's called the "silent majority." Most don't care that much about the cover but rather what's on the disc inside the packaging.Big Ben wrote:I guess I belong to the small, lonely club full of weird people who don't really care about covers.

I don’t care about the cover, per se (it won’t cause me to skip out on something I want, though I guess could prevent a complete blind buy which might be driven by the cover/title to begin with). However, I still like to comment on them from time to time!

By the images shown on Amazon, the Breakfast Club Blu-ray will not feature the "TBC" logo at the bottom like the DVD. Not important, just something I noticed.

Maybe it was Lynch’s last word about the cover artwork for each of his releases.

Between the cover and that choice for the inside image, they're really showing off all that this film has to offer visually.

I may be in the minority, but I miss the blue cover.
