Election's cover is as all-time bad as Monterey Pop's is all-time great

The Election cover angers me like no cover before. Hard to describe how repulsed I am from it. Didn’t think I’d ever feel so strongly about a cover but Jesus Christ.

The Election cover is perfect for the movie. One of Criterion's best this year.

Yeah that cover is pretty terrible indeed.
Great to see Monterey being re-released, let`s hope they make it as beautiful a box set as the dvd version

Somehow I'm not sure how I feel about the Election cover. Strong reactions so far. I do feel like it looks like mustard has been used on the cupcake, which is unappealing.

That Election covers sucks BUT it is an accurate recreation of the late 90s aesthetic

It's clearly designed to make you feel like Tracy Flick makes people feel.

It does remind me of this 1997 classic.

I've never seen Election, but I kind of love that cover, for whatever that's worth.

I love the Broderick inside Witherspoon's mouth poster so much, I was doomed to hate anything they came up with.

I'm really happy that they went this direction with the artwork for Monterey Pop, as opposed to these alternatives they had available.

While the illustration for Election has the 90s feel overall for sure, there is a problem with the hierarchy in my opinion. Is it “Election,” “Pick Flick” or “Election Pick Flick”? Complete Monterey Pop is really good, even though they could have played a bit more with the type choices. It is so much better than the original one.

And notice the Olympic Films cover has no Criterion branding, apart from the Blu sticker. It must have been one of the Olympic Committee’s conditions.

The E in Election looks like it has a Prince Albert or something.

Am I the only one that likes the original Monterey Pop cover (even though I am not at all interested in the films)?

It's a massive box. The featured artwork is just from the one boring side that tells you the collection's name. There will be branding on the opposite side.
