I'm pretty fond of the Repo Man and Richard III, myself.

I think it works for the film though it almost seems more appropriate for its sequel.

The Repo Man cover is great IMO, though it'd be hard to top the "metal license plate box" that Anchor Bay put out many years ago. That's just begging for a Steelbook reissue.

No box numbers for each of the Etaix films?

It's only a two-disc set.

Well, I'll say that some of those Kobayashi covers (particularly The Thick-Walled Room and Black River) are among the smartest looking covers yet on Eclipse.

Gate of Hell and Repo Man are hideous. The map of LA is a cool touch, but missing the opportunity for some iconic Harry Dean Stanton action is ridiculous.

That cover looks like some French comedy from the 60's about a female geisha impersonator that a Japanese man falls for - Non, Monsieur Samurai, Je ne pas une femme

I might blind-buy Richard III only for that beautiful cover. Repo Man is ok, not as good as MoCs but close. Gate of Hell is a strong contender for the worst Criterion cover ever.

I'm with everyone on GATE OF HELL, but the REPO MAN one is a perfect for what the film is. As is always proven with this thread, it's just different strokes for different folks.

Why is everyone jizzing over the Richard III cover? Long-held loyalty to Arial font?

Yeah, Repo Man is like an Offspring Album cover or something. Me no likey. Still, would look boss on the rack at Hot Topic. Is it still relevant to mock Hot Topic, or did I just date myself?

I don't like that Richard III cover. Repo Man is pretty cool, Pierre Etaix is okay, and Gate of Hell is just goddamn weird. A sub-par month for cover art IMHO.

Not me, I think it's quite possibly the ugliest of the bunch. Except for the Richard III logo. The Gate of Hell one seems extremely counter-intuitive to me, almost like a children's book, but at least it's not ugly.
