Re: Forthcoming: Luminous Procuress
The only feature film by artist and polymath Steven Arnold, Luminous Procuress is a bold, experimental, mind-and-gender-bending odyssey of uabashed hedonism. A celebration of otherness, of pan-sexuality, and of the exotic, Luminous Procuress is a truly unique work of Art.
Newly restored in all it's sensuous glory, Second Run are delighted to present Luminous Procuress for the first time ever in the UK - and a world premiere on Blu-ray.
“A lush, richly textured Bosch-like collage of languid sensuality, Luminous Procuress resembles Fellini Satyricon and those two underground classics, Jack Smith's Flaming Creatures and Kenneth Anger's Inauguration of the Pleasure Domes” Los Angeles Times

The only feature film by artist, mystic and polymath Steven Arnold, Luminous Procuress is a bold, experimental, mind-and-gender-bending odyssey of unabashed hedonism. A celebration of otherness, of pan-sexuality, and of the exotic, Luminous Procuress is a truly unique work of Art.
Often compared to the works of Fellini and Kenneth Anger, and featuring the outrageous talents of San Francisco's avant garde drag troupe The Cockettes, as well as artist Ruth Weiss, the film was an underground sensation upon release, but disappeared from circulation for many years. Now fully restored in all its sensuous glory, Luminous Procuress is ready to be discovered anew.
Luminous Procuress is presented from a glorious new 2K restoration and makes its world premiere on Blu-ray.
BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION CONTENTS
Luminous Procuress presented from an HD transfer of the complete and uncut version of the film from the new 2K restoration by the Pacific Film Archive and the Cinema Preservation Alliance.

Booklet featuring new writing by film scholar and critic Elena Gorfinkel, and an essay by Steve Seid.
World premiere on Blu-ray.

Re: Forthcoming: Luminous Procuress
A bit of a shame that none of Arnold's shorts are included.

Re: Forthcoming: Luminous Procuress
"LUMINOUS PROCURESS feels like a vital historical document of the late Sixties. Bold, provocative and darkly imaginative, it lays the foundations for films as disparate as the high camp of Rocky Horror to the nightmarish dreamscapes of David Lynch. Presented in a beautiful new restoration, it may not be a film that will appeal to everyone, but for those open minded and willing enough to take the journey with the Luminous Procuress, it may prove to be unforgettable." "A work of gender-bending and surrealist erotic art cinema [...]
This 2K restoration breathes new and welcome life into Steven Arnold’s Kodachrome-colour imagery... help place this enigmatic work in the context of Bay Area counterculture, erotic cinema and the gay liberation movement."
