I only listen to isolated scores when they have some commentary on them. (See/Hear "Fantastic Voyage", "Traffic", "Edward Scissorhands")

The Bogart is drab, the "Stagecoach" remake is a disgrace, so not for me.

According to Glenn Erickson:
Twilight Time will be releasing more Columbia Sony product on Blu-ray in 2012: Bell, Book and Candle, Pal Joey, Bite the Bullet, The Big Heat and, and Major Dundee.
That's news, right?

What he said. I'm saying this as a genuine compliment, but Novak has never been better and now I have an excuse not to pick up that boxset (for loath of Picnic). One can only hope that they'll be reasonably discounted eventually.

I really don't think much of Picnic, but watching a restored print last year was a rare and wonderful treat.

Yeah, dearly though I love The Big Heat, $35-40 with no possibility of a discount, on a title I've already got twice over (thanks, Sony!) probably means I won't pick it up unless they make a really attractive package. And something like Bell, Book, and Candle, which interests me but which I know nothing about, isn't likely to be a purchase either.

I'd happily do $20 each on them, but I can't really justify spending way more than I'd spend on a Keaton blu or a Criterion or something.

Twilight Time confirmed on their facebook page that they are releasing Jean Renoir's Swamp Water in February 2012. Limited to 3000 copies, of course. They also said "This will be a stunning-looking Blu-ray!"

Need to see more American Renoir's. He's about 50/50 during this period for me. Now for somebody to release This Land is Mine.

Why did this thread get moved from the Fox subforum? No wonder I couldn't find it.

And Mankiewicz's excellent 5 Fingers is another forthcoming title

Two new Blu-ray releases up for pre-order:

$29.95

$34.95

Has anyone picked up any of the earlier releases yet? Sorely tempted by Fright Night, but the prices are pretty steep.

Yeah, I finally bit on my first order since the Kremlin Letter with My Cousin Rachel and the Left Hand of God on DVD and the Egyptian and Rapture on Blu. They arrived pretty quickly, as well they should based on how expensive shipping is!

According to their newsletter, they have less than 500 copies of Fright Night left, so if you want one you better order soon.

Screen Archives is running a deal, spend over $100, pre-shipping, on Twilight Time titles and you get an autographed copy of Fright Night for free. They had 100 copies available.

I had to buy 4 blu-rays to qualify for this offer, since my first 3 choices were only $99.85...

From the above interview:
For example, we are doing Major Dundee. I happened to be one of the participants on the audio commentary for the DVD release. So I asked if they would let me have my own commentary, and they said yes!
HTF: Speaking of Major Dundee, there’ve been rumors of a director’s cut that no longer exists. Is the one you are releasing essentially going to be the restored 2005 release?
Yes. I don’t believe that there's anything more than that.

I'd never heard of Rapture before Twilight Time got it, but after Redman's description, I'm thinking of picking it up. Anyone who's seen it care to weigh in?

Recorded it, but never watched it, off the Fox Movie Channel, which used to run it letterboxed once in a while. It has some striking b&w scope imagery, is about all I can tell you, but it's one of the first Twilight releases I'll get (along with The Roots of Heaven) as soon as I can choke down the idea of paying $30+ for a non-import disc. Or even an import, for that matter.
