I haven't forgiven Shout! Factory for making Rhoda: Season 4 a "Shout! Select" release (so not available from retailers).

Will this line be mainstream or "Shout! Select"? I have to ask just so we're clear.bainbridgezu wrote:Shout Factory! is launching a new horror-themed imprint, Scream Factory. The first titles (BD and DVD) are:

This makes for a nice follow-up to their Roger Corman releases.
Looks like most, if not all, of these titles come from Universal. Along with They Live, hopefully this means a nice BD of Prince of Darkness is on its way.

Terror Train is the only one that isn't from Universal (it is a Fox title.)

At this time, the films we're looking at generally fall in the 70s and 80s but there are some possible exceptions we're eyeing down the road. Response to these first batch of strong titles will be key.

Yep. That's the good news I see.Adam Grikepelis wrote:Looks like most, if not all, of these titles come from Universal.
I wonder if this increases the chances for Shout to release MST3K episodes with Universal films. AFAIR, that would be:
San Francisco International
Kitten with a Whip
Revenge of the Creature
Leech Woman
Mole People
The Deadly Mantis
The Thing That Wouldn’t Die
Gemini Man
Agent from H.A.R.M.
The Projected Man

Re: Shout! Factory
I watched the "Leech Woman" episode on Google Video after watching the original and laughed so hard at it, even though I felt the original movie was alright. I'd love to see a Universal Pictures MST3K set. We really need "Agent For H.A.R.M." in some form.

I wonder if the current Blu-ray of Halloween II with the long sought after "Terror in the Aisles" will remain in print.

I'll hang to my current copy of Halloween II w/ Terror in the Aisles, but I'll definitely pick up the new edition.

I'm both amazed and dissapointed that SF are including the Halloween II TV edit on a 2nd dvd disc, however its a shame they're going with an old standard definition, TV censored and fullscreen master. Its a far cry from Anchor Bay's Halloween TV version.

Re: Shout! Factory
Maybe like Masters Of Cinema's "Repo Man", there wasn't an HD master to work from. Just an analog tape of the TV version.Lifeforce wrote:I'm both amazed and dissapointed that SF are including the Halloween II TV edit on a 2nd dvd disc, however its a shame they're going with an old standard definition, TV censored and fullscreen master. Yes, I suppose I am expecting too much from Uni. Still I'd like to think SF actually asked Uni to remaster the TV footage, perhaps it was a budgetary restriction stopping a full restoration/recreation...manicsounds wrote:Maybe like Masters Of Cinema's "Repo Man", there wasn't an HD master to work from. Re: Shout! Factory
This is what Cliff MacMillan said about the television cut of Halloween II
no, the TV cut will not be in HD. The master is from the '80s, so it will be in SD in both the DVD and the BD... not much we could do about this. We were lucky to find it. The master was incorrectly marked AMC MASTE. So, a few months ago, I asked Universal to make me a screener of the AMC master because I was hoping it was the Network Cut... and it was!!!

from Scream Factory's facebook page
Great breaking news to report to you fans of DEATH VALLEY & THE ISLAND:
Originally, these two cult favorites were to be combined together as a double feature on DVD only but that has now changed. They will now be split up and released separately as a DVD & Blu-ray combo to appease fans of both formats. We will also be using the original theatrical key art for our covers. Stay tuned for more details on an official street date...

Re: Shout! Factory
There's a lot of great ones in that list, but Alien from L.A. and Riding with D.E.A.T.H. are some of the best of the Mike era. Plus, if nothing else, this means they're not going to have to slow down their episode output for rights reasons anytime soon.

Goddammit, got a copy of the MST3K Vol XXIV set from an eBay seller today, and it's clearly a bootleg. Apparently that's something I'm going to have to worry about every time I buy one of these now.
