All are SD, yes. It's said that some BR are supposed to be made for the end of the year. No announcement about the movies concerned, but Carlotta always spoke about Double Indemnity, so maybe...

Douglas Sirk V3 is out since 3rd Dec. Nothing else for this month.

My Sirk box 3 just arrived, with no english subs, as expected. I know a little french and like no German; would be good to have english scripts as a backup; I've found Pillars of Society's french subtitle file on opensubtitles.org which is then google translateable; anyone found the others?

1. La Habanera should be fine, I know that one, plus I have the Kino.

The other three I'm more worried about, because I've not seen them; which is why I got the box:

2. Pillars of Society
3. Zu neuen Ufern/Paramatta Bagne Les Femmes/To New Shores
4. Das Mädchen vom Moorhof/La Filles des Marais/Girl of the Moors

Unfortunately, I don't think they will. But, very rarely though, Carlotta adds other subtitles than just French ones.
Wait & see ^^.

david hare wrote:THe Carlotta Blus are a great treat, but apart from Lucky Star does anyone really think the current masters of Seventh Heaven and Street Angel are going to stand up to the Blu treatment? And MoC has already done the yards on the two Murnaus.

And this is me speaking, who wants everything in Blu.
Well, considering that the sales of their first BRs (Sympathy for the devil and Fellin's Casanova) have been huge flops, I think they won't put anything else than "flawless" on Blu.
Normally, they should probably release Double Indemnity at some point, since they have been announcing it for, like, 2 years.
Anyway.
I will probably have the equipment for these releases, so I will probably pick the Murnaus and the Borzages.

And I just see that I didn't indicate it, but the Borzage BR are going to be also available in a boxset.
And the 2 Murnau will have a BR boxset as well. I think City Girl and Sunrise will look very like the MoCs, but Carlotta spoke about some "great work on some editorial surprises".

The one from Salo and Sympathy for the devil too, but the problem is that, in France, old movies like these aren't selling at all on BR, to a point where the independant studios like Carlotta, Wild Side or MK2 basically stopped doing BR releases of such movies.

That's why, if they would moreover have bad technical reviews, it would just be icing on the cake for people to bash about it.

Anyway, here is (in French though) an interview of the director of Carlotta, in which you will also find all the visuals and dates for the september to december releases :

It appears that way but the French Amazon site doesn't display tax.

I saw the De Seta documentaries at the Jeu de Paume recently; they are beautiful, slow and meditative colour portraits of traditional life in Sicily and Sardegna (mostly) and have never been on DVD. Well done, Carlotta.

Not to be picky or to diminish the merit of the Carlotta release but for some months this DVD is already available through Edizioni Cineteca di Bologna.

Well, that's normal : the Carlotta edition is made in partneship with the Bologna Cinematheque, like it was the case for Chung Kuo 2 years ago.
